Our history
The society was founded in 1910 and has, with a short break from 1912-1916, conducted regular activities since then. In 1920, the Society began to publish the scientific journal Hereditas. The society has around XXX members, election takes place at the annual meeting following a tabled proposal. The majority of members are or have been geneticists at an academic institution or plant breeding facility in southern Sweden.
Our most important tasks today
- to strengthen and supplement the range of genetics lectures in the region
- to coordinate the work of documenting the subject’s local history
- to organize and ensure the continued publication of Hereditas
